About the Davey PoolFlo Pool Pump
Davey have been making pumps in Australia since the 1930s, and the PoolFlo is their straightforward, no-fuss pool pump. It's well priced, quiet enough for a domestic garden and easy to live with.
Installation is simple. The barrel unions supplied take either 1.5" (48.3mm) or 2" (60.3mm) imperial PVC pipe and only need hand tightening, with no glue or sealant on the pump side. Through the clear lid you can see how full the basket is without opening anything up.
Every PoolFlo is tested before it leaves the factory, and the motor has a self-resetting thermal overload. If the pump overheats, say because it's been left running dry, it switches itself off and comes back once it has cooled. It won't fix a dry-run problem, but it does give the pump a better chance of surviving one.
There are five sizes, from the DPF8 for smaller pools up to the DPF26 for bigger pools or systems with a lot of resistance. All are single phase, 220-240V.

Warranty
Davey back the PoolFlo with a 2 year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. It doesn't cover normal wear and tear, dry running, frost damage, incorrect voltage or a pump that hasn't been installed by someone suitably qualified. Keep your receipt, and if you think something is wrong, stop using the pump and get in touch with us. This warranty is in addition to your rights under UK consumer law.

Frequently asked questions
Which PoolFlo size is right for my pool?
The DPF8 and DPF12 suit smaller domestic pools. The DPF16 and DPF20 are the usual choice for an average UK pool with a sand filter, and the DPF26 is for larger pools or systems with heating and long pipe runs. Tell us your pool volume and we'll help you pick.
What pipe size does the PoolFlo take?
The supplied barrel unions fit both 1.5" (48.3mm) and 2" (60.3mm) imperial PVC pipe. We don't recommend using anything smaller.
Do I need glue or PTFE tape on the unions?
No. The barrel unions are hand tightened and seal on O-rings, so no glue, sealant or silicone is needed. The unions are ABS, so if you're solvent welding pipe into them, check your jointing compound is compatible with ABS.
How do I prime the PoolFlo?
If the pump sits above the water line, take off the lid and fill the strainer housing with water, refit the lid and switch on. It should prime within about two minutes. If it doesn't, switch off and repeat. Air bubbles still showing under the lid usually mean an air leak on the suction side.
My PoolFlo keeps cutting out. What's wrong?
The thermal overload has probably tripped because the motor is getting too hot. It resets itself once the motor cools. Common causes are a blocked basket or impeller, poor ventilation around the motor or running without water. Find the cause before restarting, or call our tech team.
