    On the surface, your pool might look clean; however, without adequate testing, it’s impossible to know if your water is truly safe. Regular swimming pool water testing ensures your sanitiser is effective, pH is balanced, and your equipment is protected from scale or corrosion.

    Without testing, you risk:

    • Algae and bacteria build-up

    • Irritated skin and eyes

    • Damaged liners and filters

    • Wasting money on chemicals that don’t work

    Whether you have a chlorine, bromine, or non-chlorine system, consistent testing is essential.

    What shall I test for?

    • Free Chlorine: Important for killing bacteria. Ideally, the range should be between 1 and 3 ppm. 
    • pH Level: Important for comfort in the water and chemical efficiency. Look for a range of 7.2-7.6. 
    • Alkalinity: This allows the pH levels to stabilise. Keep levels between 80-120 ppm. 
    • Calcium Hardness: Prevents scale or corrosion in your pool. Levels should sit around 200-400 ppm. 
    • Cyanuric Acid: Relevant to outdoor pools, this ensures your chlorine is protected from UV degradation. Maintain levels at 30-50 ppm.
