Ultraviolet water sanitisers are usually installed into your pipework (ideally in the plant room) on the return back to the pool. As the water passes through the UV treatment chamber, the ultraviolet light kills and destroys organic pollutants that pass through.
Because UV systems can target contaminants like this, it means you will have to use fewer pool chemicals to maintain the quality of the water.
Along with the systems themselves, we also stock replacement UV bulbs to ensure you can continue benefiting from the process at peak efficiency.
While you can rely less heavily on chlorine with a UV system, you will still need to maintain some levels to fully control instances of bacteria as the water travels around the system and back to the UV filter.
Without the use of a UV pool filter, you would expect chlorine levels to be kept at around 2-3ppm. When using the UV system, you can get away with using far less chlorine, with around 0.5ppm being enough.
This makes it an ideal option for those who are sensitive to chlorine or looking to reduce chemical usage.
For other options that cut down on the manual application of pool chemicals, see our swimming pool salt chlorinators.
