Sanitisers are essential for the cleanliness of your hot tub. They will kill off algae and other bacteria that might be present as well as help to prevent it from forming initially. Chlorine comes in different forms depending on the intended use; some chlorine can be used for shock treatment and typically comes in granules. For general water treatment, the chlorine will often come in tablet form, which will release slowly over time from a dispenser.
Bromine is an excellent alternative to chlorine for those with sensitive skin, and also produces a less harsh odour than chlorine. It is typically more effective at higher temperatures, meaning a reduction in the amount needed to keep your hot tub sanitised. Like chlorine, bromine can come in different forms such as tablets & granules.
Here at 1st Direct Pools, as well as supplying spa cleaning & hot tub chemicals, we also provide guides and information on how you should clean and maintain your hot tub and spa. Look at our hot tub problems and solutions on our Guide to Hot Tub Chemicals for more information.
