Shop Pool Chlorine – Quality Sanitisation for Every Pool

What Type of Chlorine do I need?

Choosing the proper chlorine depends on your pool size, usage, and how hands-on you want to be with water care.

  • Chlorine tablets (often trichlor-based) are slow-dissolving and perfect for steady, consistent sanitisation, just pop them in a floating dispenser or skimmer.

  • Chlorine granules dissolve quickly and are ideal for a boost after heavy use during summer or to promptly top up levels.

  • Shock chlorine (also called stabiliser-free or unstabilised chlorine) is best for opening your pool, clearing up algae, or resetting your levels after contamination.

Want an easy option? Multi-function chlorine tablets combine sanitiser, algaecide, and flocculant for hassle-free pool care.

How Much Chlorine Do I Need?

This largely depends on your water volume and current chlorine levels. A typical domestic pool should maintain 1–3 ppm (parts per million) of free chlorine. You can use an online chlorine calculator or test strips to check your water, then adjust as needed with granules or tablets.

Tip: Always add chlorine after sundown or in the evening to prevent UV degradation and never mix different chlorine types.

At 1st Direct Pools, we have over two decades of pool care experience, and our team of experts is on hand to guide you on dosing, balancing and troubleshooting. So whether you’re maintaining your crystal-clear waters or trying to solve a crisis, we’ve got the tools and the know-how to help.

Liquid Chlorine For Swimming Pools

If you have a larger pool, liquid chlorine may be the better option for you. Liquid chlorine pool chemicals can also provide effective shock treatments as they’re fast-acting and can be easily added to your water.
