Heating System Running Cost Chart 2016-2017- For Domestic Family Pools

1st Direct Pools have put together a useful heating system running cost chart, for domestic family pools (2016-2017). It allows customers to get an indication of the different types of pool heaters in the market and their estimated running cost. It is important to note, these figures are approximate and may be subject to change.

The table shows the projected cost for a number of heaters spread across the standard season and extended season described below:

Standard Swimming Pool Season: Early May to End of September

Add 40% For Extended Season: Mid April to Mid October

NB: All figures are approximate and prices exclude VAT where applicable

  • Remember, we have assumed a dedicated swimming pool boiler, where the water flows directly through internals - add 15% for heating via a Heat Exchanger and additional pipework.
  • Boilers will require an annual service and will cost approximately 120.00
  • Heat Pumps generally require a service every 3 to 5 years

These figures are based on the following:

  • Outside air temperature is minimum 8 Celsius
  • Site subject to normal wind exposure and no ground water
  • The pool depth being: shallow end 3'6' (1.1m) to deep end 6'-(1.8m).
  • The use of a floating solar cover; thicker gauge gives better heat retention
  • Pool uncovered 3 hours per day
  • Reduced by 10% if automatic fabric cover is used.
