Hot Tub/Spa Maintenance Guide
At 1st Direct Pools, we understand the importance of regularly maintaining your hot tub/spa. This is why - we have put together a list of useful checks to help you get the most from your hot tub.
Daily Maintenance:
- Test your water chemistry using either Test Strips or a Test Kits with DPD1 and Phenol Red test tablets.
- Check chlorine/bromine levels and adjust if necessary
(Chlorine: 2.0 5.0ppm)
(Bromine: 4.0 6.0ppm)
- Check pH levels and adjust if necessary (ideal level is between 7.4 7.6)
- Clean waterline with our especially form product Pool Clean.
NB: This product is formulated with a low percentage of hydrochloric acid so please avoid all metal surfaces however this product is very effective for removing lime scale etc.
Weekly Maintenance:
- Weekly shock treatment can help prevent water problems. You can use either:
NB: Both products are compatible with Chlorine and Bromine.
- Add No Foam to help control foaming if necessary.
- Add Spa Sparkle to keep the water crystal clear if necessary.
- Add Stain & Scale Inhibitor where there is a build-up of hard calcium if necessary.
- Hose down filters making sure you get in between each pleat.
Monthly Maintenance:
- Give filter cartridges a deep clean.
- Remove filter/s.
- Hose down thoroughly.
- Allow filter/s to soak in a bucket of Filter Cartridge Cleaner for 24 hours then dry completely.
NB: Whilst this filter/s are soaking put your replacement filter/s into the spa.
Periodic Maintenance (Every 6 -12 weeks depending on use):
- Add Swirl Away to clean spa and pipes.
- Remove filter/s.
- Pour 235ml Swirl Away into the spa before draining.
- Turn pump on at a high speed for one hour with air controls closed.
- Drain spa.
- Refill the spa and add chemicals as normal.
