Prepare your pool for colder weather with a winter pool cover.

Readying your swimming pool for the colder winter months is crucial to protecting your investment and ensuring it's ready to be enjoyed come warmer weather.

Our range of premium winter pool covers provides the ultimate defence against the harsh elements, debris, and staining, saving you money and time on maintenance.

Why is a winter pool cover important?

A winter swimming pool cover is essential for several reasons:

  • Debris Protection: Keeps leaves, dirt, and other debris out of your pool water, preventing staining and the build-up of organic material that feeds algae.
  • Water Quality: Blocks sunlight, inhibiting algae growth and significantly reducing the amount of pool chemicals needed.
  • Safety Barrier: Provides an added layer of security, protecting pets and children from accidentally falling into the pool.
  • Protection from Winter Damage: Prevents costly damage to the shell of your pool from freezing temperatures and heavy snow loads.

Standard Winter Pool Covers and Above Ground Winter Pool Covers.

Our standard pool covers and above ground covers are designed to provide robust, reliable protection during the colder months when your one-piece pool or above ground pool is not in use. They act as a durable barrier against the elements, significantly extending the life of your pool and equipment.

  • Protection Against Debris and Contaminants: Prevent leaves, dirt, dust, and other debris from entering your pool water. This keeps the water cleaner, reducing the buildup of organic matter that can stain the pool surface and increase the need for pool cleaning supplies.
  • Algae Inhibition: By blocking sunlight, winter covers significantly inhibit photosynthesis, which is essential for algae growth. This means less algae and reduces the need for algaecides and other chemical pool treatments.
  • Protection Against Freezing: While not designed to withstand the weight of heavy snowfall like safety pool covers, these standard covers still offer a layer of insulation that helps protect pool walls and liners from winter weather and potential structural damage due to freezing.
  • Chemical Retention: A winter cover helps to reduce the evaporation of water and pool chemicals. This means that the chemicals added for winterisation remain effective in the water, ensuring the water stays balanced and protected throughout the closed season.
  • Cost-Effective Solution: Our standard covers offer a straightforward, economical way to winterise your pool. They are easy to install, secure, and remove, providing excellent value for essential pool maintenance.
  • Durable Construction: Constructed from robust, high-quality materials, these covers are designed for UV protection and to withstand typical winter conditions, including wind, rain, and moderate ice or snow.

Winter Pool Cover Fixings and Accessories

The best winter cover is only as good as its fixings. We supply all the necessary accessories to ensure your cover is securely anchored and offers complete protection throughout the winter.

  • Anchors: Essential for securing the pool cover to the ground. Crafted from high-quality, durable stainless steel, they withstand even the harshest conditions.
  • Fixings: Used to hold the cover securely, offering additional protection against high winds.
  • Springs: Replacement parts for safety cover springs to ensure a taut, safe installation and full protection.

Winter Pool Cover FAQs

What is a winter pool cover?

Specifically designed for use in the off-season, winter covers come in several forms: solid and mesh. Our outdoor winter pool covers are made from a mesh material that allows excess water (e.g., rain or snow) to drain into the pool, preventing flooding and keeping the cover from getting weighed down.

Each of our winter pool covers is a bespoke, made-to-order item that caters to the dimensions of your pool. Use our winter pool cover calculator to see what size cover you need.

These covers are for in-ground swimming pools and will be flush-mounted to the pool’s surrounds. For other options, see our above-ground winter pool cover

Do I need a winter cover for my pool?

Yes, we always recommend using a winter cover when you’re closing your pool down for the off-season. A properly secured cover protects your pool from debris and helps retain chemicals.

If you don’t cover your pool in the winter, you risk pesky algae growth and dirty, imbalanced water. Poor winter maintenance will mean you’ll have to use more chemicals and put in additional work when you’re getting ready for the swimming season.

Covering your pool is a key step when it comes to closing down your pool, but there are a couple of other tasks to consider, too – check out our step-by-step guide on How to Winterise a Pool to find out more.
