The Hot Tub Buyers Guide

There are many different aspects to consider before purchasing the perfect Hot Tub. Within this Guide, we will go through some simple questions you should ask yourself when choosing your desired Hot Tub. Whether its for a healthy lifestyle or just to relax in after a hard days work, there are many different types that will suit your needs.

Do I require a Hydrotherapy or Social Spa?

Hydrotherapy Spa comes with an advanced filtration system in comparison to a Pleasure Spa, capable of diverting water flow to specific seats with maximum precision whilst aiming at particular muscle groups. A Hydrotherapy Spa can provide physical health benefits too, whether you are experiencing sleepless nights, joint and muscle pains or even diabetes, the warm soothing water ensures relaxation and relieves pain making it a match made in heaven.

Social Spas have their benefits too, designed specifically for the social and fun user with its LED Lighting, hot bubbling water and in some cases entertainment system, it creates an enjoyable experience for all.

What are the running costs?

Depending on ambient temperature, water temperature and usage of your Hot Tub, The British & Irish Swimming Pool Association (BISHTA) clearly state that a typical 4 person Spa can cost anywhere between 1.00-1.50 a day.

How do I keep the Spa clean?

Like Swimming Pools, Hot Tubs also need to be correctly balanced, sanitized and kept clean. The most common methods of sanitizing your spa are using Chlorine or Bromine. Always refer to the manufacturers instructions when applying chemicals. A cartridge filter is supplied with your filter to filtrate your water keeping it crystal clear and inviting. When manually cleaning your Hot Tub, a Spa Vacuum would be the quickest and most effective way of removing any dirt or debris that tends to accumulate at the bottom of the Spa over time.

How often should the water be changed?

Also dependent on usage of your Spa, it is recommended that its emptied every 12 weeks at the very least. For complete satisfaction, empty on a monthly basis and flush the system with a disinfectant.

How is the Hot Tub drained?

A drain plug can be found on most spas directly underneath the tub. Simply connect a drain hose to the plug and safely divert the water to an available drain. Before you begin to refill the Spa with fresh water, give the interior and filter a clean with a non-foaming disinfectant. If a drain plug cant be found, empty the Spa using a submersible pump.

Do I need a Plumber and Electrician for installation?

A certified electrician is required for the installation of your Hot Tub which must confirm to IEE regulations current edition It is the home owners responsibility to provide an electrical supply to the location of the Spa. A plumber is NOT required for installation.

How is the temperature controlled?

Your spa water temperature is controlled with a digital thermostatic control panel capable of keeping the water within 1 Degree of the temperature set out by the user. Allow an adequate amount of time for the water to reach the set temperature. Information on temperature control can be found in the manufacturers instructions.
