Pool Pump Installation Guide

This step by step guide will help you take the necessary steps to correctly install your pool pump. It is recommended that your pool pump is installed by a competent person.

If you are replacing a pump, you will need to source information such as the model number and horse power (Hp) which can be found on the pump label. A like for like match will ensure that no modifications to your existing pipework will need to be made saving you time and money.

If installing a new model pump, you may have to modify the existing pipework.

Step 1

Position the pump on a stable platform ensuring the pump has ample ventilation to prevent overheating and is accessible for servicing. Maximum efficiency can be achieved by installing your pump & filter as close together as possible.

Step 2

Cut, clean and dry-fit the parts that are required before gluing. You can clean the pipework & fittings using Pipe Cleaner which can be found under our Pool Plumbing page.

Step 3

Once you are happy with the modifications you have made, apply PVC Pipe Cement evenly to both pipe & fitting and assemble. Allow the glue to try for an hour.

Step 4

Now you have a fully installed pump, you will need to begin the priming process. Apply water to the tank body until full, secure the lid and begin filtration. Undertake a visual check of connections to ensure theyre not leaking.

You should always refer to the manufacturers instructions when doing any installation.
