About the Malawi Pro Pool Pump
The Malawi Pro is the pump we point people to when an old Sta-Rite 5P2R needs replacing and they want good value without cutting corners. It's made to take the 5P2R's place, so in most installs it's a quick change rather than a re-plumb.
The body is moulded from modern thermoplastics with the pre-filter built into it. That pre-filter holds a 3 litre basket, which is generous for a pump this size and means less time spent emptying it. Anything that gets past the skimmer is caught before it can reach the impeller.
The motor is IP55 rated and built to cope with the heat and humidity you get in a typical plant room or pump house. It's self-priming, and you can choose from 0.5HP up to 1.5HP in single phase (230V) or three phase (230V/400V).
Ports are 1.5", so it connects to the same pipework a 5P2R used.

Warranty
The Malawi Pro comes with a 2 year warranty on the pump, and 1 year on consumable parts. To keep the cover valid, have it installed by a qualified person and wired by an electrician, and never run it dry or let it freeze. If anything goes wrong, contact us and we'll sort it out with the manufacturer.
Domestic Pumps not warranted to run 24 hours a day.

Is the Malawi Pro a direct replacement for a Sta-Rite 5P2R?
Yes. It's designed to replace the 5P2R and uses the same 1.5" connections, so in most installations it fits the existing pipework. Measure your old pump against the dimensions table if space is tight, or send us a photo and we'll check.

Which size Malawi Pro do I need?
Go by the horsepower of the pump you're replacing if it was doing the job well. For a new install, aim to turn the pool over every 6 to 8 hours. The 0.75HP and 1HP cover most domestic pools in the UK.

Is it self-priming?
Yes. Fill the pre-filter with water before the first start and make sure the lid is seated properly on its O-ring, and it will prime itself.

Is there a three phase version?
Yes, every size comes in single phase (230V) and three phase (230V/400V). Most homes need single phase. Three phase is for commercial sites or properties with a 400V supply.
