Bayrol Alca-Plus 5kg
Stable pH starts with the correct Total Alkalinity (TA). If your pool's alkalinity is too low, the pH can fluctuate quickly, making water balance difficult to maintain and reducing the effectiveness of your pool chemicals.
Bayrol Alca-Plus is a high-quality sodium hydrogen carbonate treatment that increases Total Alkalinity (TA), helping to stabilise pH levels and keep your water balance under control. By raising alkalinity, it also helps reduce corrosion, protects pool equipment and creates a more comfortable swimming environment.
The fast-dissolving granules are easy to apply, dissolve quickly without clouding the water and are suitable for all pool finishes, filtration systems and sanitising methods. Alca-Plus is particularly useful when restarting your pool after winter, following periods of heavy rainfall or whenever your TA level falls below 80mg/L.
Key Features
- Raises Total Alkalinity (TA)
- Helps stabilise pH levels
- Reduces pH fluctuations
- Helps protect equipment from corrosion
- Improves swimmer comfort
- Fast-dissolving powder
- Does not cloud the water
- Ideal after heavy rain or pool start-up
- Suitable for all pool finishes
- Compatible with all sanitising systems
- Suitable for all filtration systems
Why is Total Alkalinity Important?
Total Alkalinity acts as a buffer for your pool's pH. If the TA is too low, even small changes can cause the pH to rise or fall rapidly, making water balance difficult to maintain. Keeping the TA at 80mg/L or above helps maintain a stable pH, improves chemical efficiency and protects your pool from corrosion.
Ideal For
- Low Total Alkalinity (below 80mg/L)
- Unstable pH levels
- Pool start-up after winter
- After heavy rainfall
- All swimming pools
- All sanitising systems
How to Use
- Test your pool's Total Alkalinity (TA).
- If the TA is below 80mg/L, calculate the amount of Alca-Plus required.
- Dissolve the granules in a clean bucket of water.
- With the filtration system running, slowly pour the solution in front of the return inlets or around the pool.
- Wait 4–6 hours before retesting the water.
Increase Total Alkalinity in stages of no more than 30mg/L at a time.
Dosage Guide
| Adjustment Required | Dosage |
| Increase TA by 10mg/L | 180g per 10m³ |
Measuring Cup: 200ml = approximately 275g of Alca-Plus.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Total Alkalinity (TA)?
Total Alkalinity measures your pool's ability to resist changes in pH. It acts as a buffer, helping keep your water balance stable.
When should I use Alca-Plus?
Use Alca-Plus whenever your TA falls below 80mg/L, after heavy rainfall, when restarting your pool for the season or if you're struggling to keep the pH stable.
Can I add Alca-Plus directly into the pool?
For best results, dissolve the granules in a clean bucket of water before slowly pouring the solution into the pool with the filtration system running.
Will Alca-Plus raise my pH?
It may cause a slight increase in pH, but its main purpose is to increase Total Alkalinity and help prevent future pH fluctuations.
How often should I test Total Alkalinity?
Bayrol recommends checking your TA at least once a week as part of your regular pool water testing routine.
